Challenge: Interior Scans
A stationary or tripod-mounted 3D laser scanner is challenging to use in tight spaces. The device must be repositioned multiple times to capture behind obstructions, significantly increasing the scanning time. In many situations there is not enough space for the scanner, making it impossible to capture every feature.
Solution: Mantis Vision F6 SR (Short Range) Handheld 3D Scanner
This video shows the model created by the Mantis Vision F6 SR (Short Range) 3D hand scanner for the cabin of a semi truck. With no targets or special preparation required, the interior and exterior were captured in ten minutes. The resulting scan can be used for quality control, measurements, or imported into CAD as the starting point of a retrofitting design.
